Ehhh. The Midnight Feast by Lucy Foley was not my favorite. I do plan on trying her other books to see if I like her writing and maybe this one was just a flop (to me).
This will be my first go-over of a book I didn’t love and I would like to say just because I wasn’t a fan doesn’t mean you won’t be.
A Bit About
Lucy Foleys, The Midnight Feast, follows a group of now grown up teenagers who return to a coastal town in the English Countryside because of a new luxury resort opening that is directly tied with secrets from their past. But it’s not just any town, it’s one where giant see-all birds haunt the local forests.
My Thoughts &/or fACTS
- I haven’t read Lucy Foley’s novels before and I don’t plan on letting this one deter me from her novels. It just wasn’t a hit for me.
- I found the characters felt obnoxious and forced with no concept of age normality. The leads were awful, in the first few chapters a 30 year old new mother is hitting on a 19 year old bar back, the other is a literal monster who think she is a spiritual goddess (we all know one of those I fear), but it’s overdone and stretched. The male characters were so awkward and cringey, I found them unlikely.
- One of the twists was really unrealistic and I found parts and characters to be useless which brings me to the next point.
- It felt like she was throwing in a bunch of characters and little side snid-bits to make it more confusing then it actually was.
- This book was literally saved by it’s ending. And one, even pin change to the ending could have turned the whole work into a dumpster fire.
- I cant say that I would want to read it again and it took me weeks to get through. (I will read a whole book in one night if it has its claws in me).
- There is a TV Series adaption coming at some point.
